Community members are urged to enact their fire plans in preparation for tomorrow’s extreme fire danger rating.

Fire authorities speaking at community meetings today reiterated that leaving your property as early as possible is the safest option for all residents covered by the fire warning.

For the most up-to-date information on the fire emergency, including fire warnings, residents should visit www.emergency.vic.gov.au or call 1800 226 226.

A recording of the Avoca and Beaufort community meetings held this today are  available on the Council’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/pyreneessc) and YouTube channel. (www.youtube.com/Pyreneessc) .

Pyrenees Shire Mayor Cr Robert Vance encouraged anyone in the fire warning area to make sure they take medications, devices, chargers, documentation and pets with them before leaving.

Cr Vance said tomorrow’s conditions are going to be incredibly challenging for fire authorities trying to contain the Bayindeen fire, which started last Thursday.

“My message for everyone in the fire warning area is to leave as early as possible – the safety of you and your family is the most important thing,” he said.

“For accurate and up-to-date information on the fires, including the latest warnings, please visit www.emergency.vic.gov.au or the VicEmergency Facebook page or app, listen to ABC local radio or tune into Sky News.”
